During the period 2000-2010, LDCs recorded economic losses totalling $14.1 billion. Within the LDC Group, Bangladesh and Myanmar suffered the greatest economic losses ($5.8 billion and $4.5 billion respectively). Overall, LDCs and small island developing States (SIDS) are among the most susceptible in the world to natural disasters, as a result of which they suffer significant shocks to their economies."
